Make worms happy and green your garden with home made compost
Cut down yard waste by 50-70%
By some estimates backyard composting of household organic matter can remove about 500 pounds of waste a year for the average household. That is waste that would have gone directly to a landfill or incinerator. Composting cuts down on yard waste by about 50-70%, and at the same time we can help reduce landfill waste. The EPA estimates that about 60% of landfill waste is organic and compostable.
Recycle food waste with composting
We designed and built compost pits to recycle all the food waste from our cafeteria and from some of the production processes at our factory. The idea is to recycle all the food and garden waste to then reuse in the gardens surrounding our production plant. All food scraps, garden waste, newspapers, serviettes, shredded paper, etc. go into the pits. We added some lovely worms who are enjoying life in the compost pits, reproducing like crazy.
Composting makes worms happy
It takes about two months or so for one pit to decompose –thanks to the worms, plenty of sun, and a dose of rain — and then it is ready for use as organic compost in our gardens. It’s a fantastic way to recycle, have a healthier garden, and make the worms happy.
Every little bit helps!
