Greywater Recycling

Schullo - Using greywater recycling to recycle water is good for the environment

We recycle about 60% of the water we use

It is called greywater recycling. It means that any water that comes from production or cleaning processes in our factories, kitchens, and laundries is recycled and used in our gardens through our greywater treatment plant. The greywater treatment plant at our production facility was specifically designed to limit our use of such a valuable resource while also keeping our gardens green.

The treatment pools collect used water. It is filtered and pumped to a series of tanks, from which it is pumped to various parts of the property. It is then slowly infiltrated into gardens, trees, and lawns. According to some estimates, greywater accounts for 50 to 80 percent of an average household’s wastewater. The average amount of wastewater recycled and used at our production facility is around 60%.

Additional Information on Greywater Recycling

The website greywateraction.org has some excellent suggestions. To get you started, they provide some simple design suggestions, for example, how to use the greywater from the washing machine and pump it directly into the garden. One important tip is to use plant-friendly detergents and soaps that don’t contain too much salt, boron, or chlorine bleach.
