Percolator Coffee
A medium coarse grind is perfect for this method. Always use the purest water you can, it makes a difference. Finely ground coffee extracts much faster than coarse ground coffee. That translates into a more bitter coffee much sooner, that is why it is better to use a medium coarse grind for a percolator. The coarse grind is more forgiving, and the brewing process can be longer, such as with a percolator.
General rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per 1 cup of water. Add the ground coffee to the basket and screw the top onto the base. You will need a gas stove for this unless you are enjoying the great outdoors and have a camping stove. Keep an eye on the heat, medium to high is fine but try to avoid over boiling. You will hear it gently bubbling, once it stops it is ready. Approximately 7 minutes, is good as it should be well rounded.
